1. Which age group does my daughter fall under?
Grade ranges refer to the grade your child is currently in.

2. How can I register?

We accept registrations in the following ways:

Online. We accept payments under the University of Alberta's secure payment server.

Mail. Send your registration form to E2-040C ETLC, University of Alberta, Edmonton AB T6G 2V4.

In Person. Stop by and see us at the address above, or call us at 780.492.8779. If you do plan on stopping in between September and April, please call ahead to make sure someone will be in the office – as our office staff are primarily university students, office availability is variable during the school year.

Using our secure online system is the fastest way to register. Your spot in the program is guaranteed as soon as you submit the form. Once the payment is processed you will immediately receive a confirmation email with your receipt and a consent form.

3. I don't want to use my credit card online. How can I register?
If you are hesitant about releasing your credit card number, you cannot register online. You may, however, use any other method of registration (as described under question 2). You can also pay by cheque, cash or debit but we cannot process a registration or hold any spots in a camp until payment is received.

4. Where are you located?
We are located on the University of Alberta campus on 116 street and just south of Saskatchewan Drive. We are in the DICE building (Donadeo Innovation Centre for Engineering) joined with ETLC (Engineering, Teaching and Learning Complex) and Windsor Car Park. We are just north of the Butterdome on 116 street. Parking is available in Windsor Car Park.

5. Where can I park?
All parking at the University of Alberta is managed entirely by Parking Services. The closest parkade near ETLC is the Windsor Carpark, located on 116th street and about 94th ave. DiscoverE will be arranging for specialized parking passes that will cover the pick-up and drop off times, as well as the duration of the Open House (last meeting of GEM Club). Just a note that DiscoverE discourages parking in the emergency zones outside of ETLC; we are not responsible for parking tickets issued here.

6. Can my participant attend both the GEM Club and the Girls Coding Club?

Yes! The Girls Coding Club and GEM Clubs run at separate times each Saturday, and lunch-time supervision will be provided.

7. If my participant attends both clubs, how will lunch break work?
DiscoverE will provide lunch time supervision for all participants staying for the two clubs offered for their grade level. Lunch must be brought from home, as there will be no where available to purchase lunches due to supervision requirements.  Please note that DiscoverE is a nut-safe environment, so we ask that the children do not bring lunches with nuts in them.

8. When will I receive my information package?
Welcome packages with additional information (e.g. map to ETLC & DICE, times of club, etc.) will be emailed to the email address provided on the registration form.  Expect to receive your welcome package 2-3 weeks before the club starts.  If you have not received a welcome package 1 week prior to the club starting, please contact our office.

9. What does my participant need to bring?
Participants in GEM or the Girls Coding Club will need to provide their own snacks (and lunches if attending both clubs), as well as appropriate clothing for the planned activities. Please note that DiscoverE is a nut-safe environment, so we ask that the children do not bring snacks with nuts in them.

All project supplies will be provided, unless otherwise mentioned. DiscoverE is not responsible for the loss of any valuables while attending our programs, and as such it is strongly recommended that valuables are not brought to the club.
